East Arlington Recreation and Library
CCA collaborated with the architect to strategically locate the new combined facility and parking area, grade the site, integrate a grass-pave fire lane, and preserve existing park trees. The facility is sited east of the existing recreation center, which was demolished. The existing park trail was integrated to create a continuous loop trail, enhancing pedestrian circulation.
Paving and planting plans were developed to enrich the new facility, including a welcoming entry plaza, shaded outdoor areas for multi-functional exercise, and library use. The former recreation site was transformed into an open field for flexible, community-oriented activities. The fire lane is integrated into the landscape using an invisible structures grass-pave system to minimize visual impact to the project while maintaining fire code requirements.
The 20.9-acre site design also preserved existing drainage areas and tennis courts at the center of the site, balancing functionality, recreation, and environmental stewardship.
