Dallas ISD’s Career Institute North was named to the 2025–26 Caudill Class, recognizing excellence in Texas school design. The honor reflects a collaborative effort to transform a challenging site into a forward-looking center for career-focused education.

Following significant storm damage in 2019, the former Walnut Hill Elementary campus was thoughtfully reimagined rather than replaced. Opening in 2023, Career Institute North now serves students from five nearby high schools, offering 16 career pathways within a modern learning environment that preserves the character of the original school.

The project combined selective demolition, full renovation, and approximately 110,000 square feet of new construction.
