Fort Worth Central City Bypass Channel

CCA prepared pedestrian hardscape, site furniture, and planting plans from 30% through 100% design for 0.8 miles of the North Channel within the Central City project. The 1.5-mile channel will create an 800-acre island north of downtown as part of a major flood control initiative.

The west bank features levees, trails, equestrian paths, and native riparian plantings, while the east bank is defined by a flood wall that supports upper and lower promenades punctuated by parks, a pedestrian bridge, recreational elements, and native landscapes. Hardscape design includes concrete paving finishes, brick pavers, aggregate paths, and coordinated site furnishings.

CCA collaborated with multiple stakeholders—including TRWD, USACE departments, Streams and Valleys, and the City of Fort Worth—to build consensus on layout, planting, and paving material selection. Conceptual and preliminary design was completed by Hargreaves and Associates under a separate contract. Construction is anticipated to begin in 2026.
