South Lamar Street

Along Southside, CCA transformed 5,500 linear feet of urban streetscape into a vibrant, pedestrian-friendly corridor. Five pocket parks bring life to the streets, each featuring native and adaptive canopy trees, inviting seating, public art, and planting designed to capture and manage stormwater. Street trees were planted in structured soils to support healthy root growth while maintaining durable pavements, creating a seamless transition to the surrounding clay soils.

Undergrounding power lines and carefully placed pedestrian lighting enhance safety and visibility along the adjacent bike lane, which sees significant night traffic. Throughout the process, CCA worked closely with DART, TxDOT, NCTCOG, Dallas Public Works, Oncor, and private developers to balance technical requirements with community and stakeholder goals. The result is a connected, inviting streetscape that blends functionality with thoughtful, resilient design.
