West Irving Library
This LEED Gold–certified facility occupies a 7.5-acre site shared with an existing water tower and adjacent fire station. The building’s crescent form responds to the circular geometry of the water tower, opening north with expanses of glass that frame views across a turfgrass meadow accented by sweeping bands of native prairie grasses.
The landscape emphasizes drought-tolerant turf and native plantings to reduce irrigation and long-term maintenance. Scattered trees and the newly established meadow create a park-like setting for library staff and patrons, extending the building’s connection to the site. CCA also coordinated the placement of ground-mounted solar panels, integrating renewable energy features as both an educational element and a sculptural presence within the landscape.
